Our Club acknowledges the generous support which continues to be offered by our eight major sponsors.
Their support is crucial to the continued viability of our Club and, as such, they form an important part of our life in Lakes Entrance. For these reasons our members support these sponsors and encourage others to do the same.
Lakes Entrance Rotary’s “Gippsland Lakes Art on Show” returns again to Forestec in 2017 on the March long weekend. “Earlier this year in the 2016 show over a thousand people visited the art show and we expect the number of visitors to increase further next year.” Rotary Club’s President Bruce Hurley said. “Gippsland Lakes Art on Show is becoming a major Regional Art Show in Victoria.” This year saw the successful introduction of two new sections to the show – Art work influenced by Aboriginal Culture and Photography. These two sections proved to be very popular and will be continued in 2017. Over 100 local and interstate artists are expected to enter works into the Art and Photography competition competing for the $5000 in prize money. All works entered will be on sale.
Next year’s Art show will be organised in collaboration with the Gunaikurnai Land and Water Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) who recently moved its base from Bairnsdale to Forestec. Grattan Mullet GLaWAC’s Cultural Hub Manager said “We are keen to showcase the rich and diverse Aboriginal culture of the area during the show”.
Bruce Hurley explained “The Art Show is the Rotary’s Club major fund raising event. Community support is essential for the Art Show as is the support of local businesses. Eight local businesses will be the major sponsors of the show. They are LJ Hooker, McDonalds, Wyanga Winery, ACE Radio, Tambo Waste, Cunninghame Arm Medical Centre, Lakes Entrance Community and Sports Club and Lakes Entrance Bowling Club.
Bruce Hurley added “The funds raised by this year’s event will support Latrobe Regional Hospital’s Centenary House and other local and international Rotary projects”. Centenary House provides accommodation to families staying in Traralgon whilst they support family members that are being treated by Latrobe Regional Hospital.
