Photography reintroduced into Gippsland Lakes Art on Show

This year’s Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance Gippsland Lakes Art on Show will reintroduce a photographic competition as part of the show which will be held on the long weekend in March at Forestec on the highway between Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance.

The photography competition expects to attract entries from all over Victoria including many from East Gippsland.  The judges for the photography section will be highly regarded photographers Jenni Tanner from Cockatoo and Bruce Langdon from Warragul.

Well known and local photographer Norm Neilson from Metung will be entering a number of his works. Norm’s philosophy is to wait for the very best light usually at sunrise or sunset and to “wait for the moment” such as the beautiful white etching on the sand as a wave retreats.

Gippsland Lakes Art Show committee is grateful for the support they have received from the East Gippsland Photographic Society (EGPS) our local photography club based in Bairnsdale. “EGPS has been only too happy to assist with suggestions for the photographic section of this years art show” says EGPS President Vicki Jesty.  “This has included providing judges lists and enabling entry forms to be distributed across the state via photographic networks such as the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies.  The art show will provide local photographers with another platform to showcase their work . I encourage all photographers to enter the completion and head to Forestec over the March long weekend to view the photos and art on display, getting some inspiration to head out with their cameras”.
