This week we hosted the annual debate between Lakes Entrance Secondary College and Orbost Secondary College.
The night was very well attended, with almost 50 people at the event. They included representatives of the two Rotary Clubs, two sets of College students & staff, independent adjudicators plus some parents and other visitors. This was an impressive crowd to support both Colleges as students presented their convincing arguments.
On the night, Lakes Entrance Secondary College came out the winner. All in all, an enjoyable night which ended by all those present committing to attend the debate next year in Orbost.
|Next Week is
Footy Finals Week –
Wednesday 26 September
Next week is definitely one of the social highlights of the year. We meet at the Wyanga Winery to celebrate the upcoming AFL Grand Final and join in the associated festivities – a very social night with friends and partners strongly encouraged to attend.
The Wyanga Winery has recently committed to another year as a major sponsor of our Club and is promising to make the night lots of fun. We start at 6PM and the night will include lots of laughs and entertainment, as well as a great home-made footy-type meal. And please don’t forget to wear your favourite footy colours.
Drinks of all types will be available. The cost will be $20 per person and we do need to confirm numbers for catering. Please contact Lesley by Monday to ensure we can make final arrangements with Wyanga.

Dan presented our Club flag to Chelsea Rotary during one of his recent visits. He has sent us a message …. “hope you have a great night next Wednesday” …
|Melbourne Cup Eve Spectacular
Monday 5 November
Planning is now well underway for one of our major fundraising events for this Rotary year.
Attached is a poster we are distributing which presents the major highlights of the night. A small group of Club members are now actively working to gain donations (cash and items for auction) and are also recruiting guests to attend the function.
We need all our Club members to assist in two ways:
- Firstly, commit to attending the function and bring partners and friends along with you. Bookings are through Lesley and payment is needed in order to confirm your attendance.
- Consider what items you can contribute for the auction, or silent auction. Sporting memorability is great, but also other items which can be auctioned themselves or included in baskets of goodies such as bottles of wine, gift vouchers, etc. All items can help with our efforts.
Please call Peter if you can help with the arrangements.
