Welcome to our Club
Our Club meets via ZOOM on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month while we are limited with social gatherings.

Club Notes

Our District Governor Mark Humphries joined our ZOOM meeting last night along with 12 of our club members.

Following the quickest AGM the club has ever held,  Brian Ashworth,  CEO  of Disaster Aid Australia, provided members with an in depth presentation of the work that Disaster Aid Australia are currently involved in.  Our club has donated to Disaster Aid Australia for many year as a part of our international support, so it was wonderful for members to see the projects we have been supporting.

The major focus of Disaster Aid has been the provision of clean water and the installation of Skyhydrants  into communities following disasters, or just to improve the health of those communities through access to clean water.

The following slides are from Brian's presentation
The following table highlights the improvement in health for school children in India following the installation of Skyhydrants  to provide clean drinking water

Looking at the Disaster Aid Australia website I was touched to see that communities within Papua New Guinea that Disaster Aid Australia has supported  raised funds to support Australians during our recent bushfires.

Our next meeting is a ZOOM meeting on the 23rd September with Peter Sindrey providing the club with a presentation on  EGRFA

The current restrictions on gatherings  means it will be unlikely that we can have a dinner meeting before the end of November and the fishing trip to Bemm River may also have to be postponed. Fingers crossed that restrictions may be eased a little sooner.

Stay Safe

Jeff

Club Fundraiser

Members agreed last night that we would have a raffle each ZOOM meeting.

Every member will get a number when joining the Zoom meeting and can electronically transfer $10 to the Club Bank Account.

One number will be  drawn and the winner will get a $30 voucher usable at local businesses.

Members who can’t make the meeting,  partners and friends of Rotary could also participate by letting Sandy know.  Sandy will send details including our club bank details.

Lakes Entrance Gardening Club

Earlier this year our club donated $1,000 to the Lakes Entrance Garden Club (LEGC)

The LEGC intended to use this money to assist in acquiring an additional hothouse, so that they could propagate more plants to distribute to fire affected areas of the community.

With the help of another donation from the Native Plants Society, this plan has now become a reality
Work is now underway to transfer hundreds of plants they already have into the hothouse.

Revegetation

Many of the plans to assist with revegetation are now on hold until 2021 because of current restriction under COVID 19
