Welcome to our Club
Our Club meets via ZOOM on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month while we are limited with social gatherings.
Club Notes

It was great to see so many members online last night. It was a great roll up for a winter meeting. While technology can at times get the better of us, we are getting better at ZOOM-ing.

A big thank you to  Peter McCormick for an informative "Man Behind the Badge" session. Peter gave us a great insight into his life. We enjoyed the tales of his journey from Hobart, to New Guinea then Canberra, Merimbula and now Lakes Entrance.

It was a pleasure to welcome Olivia Greer to our meeting last night. Olivia is a grade 6 student at St Brendans Primary school and organised to join our meeting as part of her Junior Community Rotary Award. We could all learn from her ZOOM-ing skills
Thanks Olivia for your participation

Our next meeting is via ZOOM on the 26th of  August from 6pm and Masks are compulsory. I will send you a link prior to the meeting. At this meeting Bernie Farquhar (President of Bairnsdale Sunrise Rotary Club) will be presenting a talk on Santuary East Gippsland.  This is a fantastic project and the cluster is looking for support from all clubs

Frankston North Rotary Raffle

The recent bushfires in Gippsland had a very emotional effect on most of us especially those of us that often visited the region for holidays or to visit friends.  We have very close friends who live at Nicholson so we were very anxious to catch up with them after the fires and to see how they and their community was coping.  What could we do to contribute to the rebuild? It had to be something creative and emotive and more particularly involve our strongest sphere of influence which is our Rotary Club. Scrolling through the photos of the devastation the thing that struck me was that how nature was showing us the way and just getting on with it.  The only way I knew how to express that feeling was to paint a picture of the “manmade” road with nature pushing through to show us the way.  The result is this painting titled “Road To Recovery”. I took my idea to the President of  my Frankston North Rotary Club who was immediately on board and spoke to some particular members who formed a committee and now we have a “Virtual Raffle” for the painting (due to the situation of COVID 19) and the “can do” attitude of the members of our little committee.  I hope whoever finishes up with the painting will always find it inspirational.
